Cell membranes and transport — AS & A Level Biology (9700) questions by topic

- A frequent error assumes the sugar concentrations of two solutions being equal, rather than the water potentials, when explaining why a cell neither gains nor loses water.
- Reports flag contradictory answers describing sodium ions entering by both diffusion and active transport in the same response.
- Strong answers show a correct serial dilution with the concentration stated below each beaker, and name active transport with supporting reference to the sodium-potassium pump.
