Family and relationships — IGCSE Spanish - Foreign Language (0530) questions by topic
Family and relationships questions ask you to match housemate adverts to descriptions of ideal flatmates, complete a survey form about shopping habits or a chess-festival registration in Spanish, and choose the correct statement about how two characters feel, such as whether they want social media or are simply content. Identify, complete, answer, match and choose test filling gaps accurately and selecting the one statement that matches what was heard or read.
21 questions from 2023 to 2025 sit on this page, worth between 1 and 12 marks. Because form-completion gaps are marked on recognisable Spanish spelling rather than perfect grammar, submitting a completed form for instant marking shows whether a single-word answer, such as an instrument or a day of the week, has been spelled clearly enough to be credited.
What examiners look for
- Examiners repeatedly note gaps lost to confusing the required word with an unrelated idea, or to unacceptable misspellings that made the answer unrecognisable as the intended Spanish word.
- A recurring criticism is writing words that are unrecognisable as Spanish at all, rather than a near-correct attempt at the target vocabulary.
- Reports note that the majority of candidates achieved full marks on form-completion gaps, since a single accurately recognisable word per gap was enough to score, with instruments and simple nouns among the most commonly credited answers.
