Structures questions ask you to develop ideas for making a barrier easy to move, describe how to fix a display stand frame in place, explain features of a garden sunshade joint, and compare the benefits and drawbacks of different material types for a garden table. Describe, explain and discuss want reasoned, developed answers, while develop and give cover generating and stating design ideas.
22 questions from 2023 to 2025 sit on this page, worth from 20 to 80 marks. Because structural design ideas are marked on how well they solve the stated problem, submitting a proposed fixing or triggering mechanism for instant marking checks whether it actually meets the scenario's requirement, such as someone triggering an alarm on approach, before time is spent developing an idea that misses the brief.
