Reading comprehension — IGCSE English As A Second Language (0993) questions by topic

Reading comprehension questions ask you to match a statement to the correct speaker, state where a name or term originates, or give three details from a text, worth between 1 and 10 marks across a wide range of short answers.

Identify, state and give require you to locate exact information rather than infer or invent it. With 98 questions from 2023 to 2025 papers, this topic rewards careful reading over the whole article rather than the first paragraph alone, and instant marking on this page shows immediately whether you have lifted a distractor phrase, such as 'one of a thousand', that examiners repeatedly report as uncreditable.
